Mallorca
How did we find our way to this sweet little island? Well we looked up the cheapest flights from London on google flights. Thus we found our way to Palma de Mallorca. This island absolutely blew me away. It had so many different cool, unique aspects to the island that we did not expect.
From beaches, to cathedrals, to markets, and the cutest towns there is something in Mallorca for everyone.
A couple key notes to start: RENT A CAR. The busses only take cash and they won’t get you everywhere you’ll want to go. We booked with OFFUGO and they were fantastic!! We booked the wrong dates and the wrong type of car (oops) and they helped up every step of the way. We also only spent 90 euros for four days. For a rental car it was insane how affordable this site was. I also was super nervous to book with a rental company abroad but I cannot recommend them enough. I reached out to them after the trip and they gave me a discount code, MACKENZIE10.
Second, the roads in Palma are very small. The town is very historical so most roads look like they are just for walking so when google maps takes you down them and you have to put the mirrors in to even fit, good luck.
Coming from England and not driving for the last two months my favorite part of the whole trip was just driving around. Every inch of the island is BEAUTIFUL but specifically the drive from Palma to Soller took our breath away. There are fields of olive trees, orange and lemon trees as well as miles of fields with sheep.
Third, we booked a hotel with three beds and when we got there the hotel told us there is a new law in Mallorca where you cannot put three or more people in a room. Not one hundred percent sure about that one but I would double check with your hotel. We stayed at Tent Capi and let me tell y’all. They had an unlimited brunch from 8am - 1pm which helped us save A LOT of money on food because we definitely would eat three - four plates each meal. The food was also honestly incredible.
My best advice would be to use google maps when searching up these locations :) If you need the exact address or pin, feel free to message me @jesuspeopleplaces on instagram.
Beaches + Swimming Spots
Cala Deià
When we were in Soller we picked up some fruit. Brining it to Cala Deiá and having a little picnic here made for the perfect afternoon. Although it was definitely too cold to swim the area was beautiful.
Cala Pi Beach
If you’re looking for amazing views from up top + a little hike, this place is stunning.
Cala Santanyi
I wish we could’ve spent more time here. This was my favorite!! It was stunning!! Heidi and I had to swim even though the water was in fact about fifty degrees. I can only imagine this place in the summer, although we did have the beach almost to ourself which was amazing.
Cala Antena
We quickly ran here for sunset and truthfully, there would’ve been better sunset spots but this would also be a great spot to swim at. Mallorca, if you haven’t noticed, is essentially filled with a bunch of swimming holes which are my personal favorite!!
Towns
Soller
This was my favorite town. We drove into their city center, picked up some gelato, fruit + fresh orange juice (which is a must in Mallorca, after you pass all of the orange trees you’ll see why). This town was so precious!! Spend some extra time here and just walk around. There are so many neighborhoods that we just ended up walking through, simply just because.
Deiá
Deiá was just a little ways from Soller. We went from Soller to Cala Deiá then into the town of Deiá. In the off seasons most restaurants here were closed, however the town itself is beautiful and something you should absolutely check out on your visit to Mallorca.
Palma
The markets in Palma are everything you can dream of & more. The cathedral in Palma is the most beautiful cathedral I have ever seen and of the largest as well. There is plenty to do in Palma but if you’re trying to save money the markets are great — we picked up dinner and snacks. There was so many amazing vendors and I believe they are there daily. We went to the markets on a Friday and Saturday. We picked up a pizza and went to the beach in Palma and danced around the beach. Afterward we went back into town to listen + dance our hearts out to live music downtown.
Other spots not to miss
Flower Field
We stumbled upon a flower field right around this address. We went in late February so whether this exact field still looks like this I am unsure but it was just a random flower field. We were fortunate enough to find one with lots of room to park so we took some time running and dancing in the field!
